Dear Friends,
The July 14, 2021 MWCAC Zoom meeting has presented a new plan for the direction of the old Wikiup Golf Course which today does not include any housing and only open space, habitat conservation and an educational component through the Sonoma County Water Agency.
MARK WEST CITIZENS ADVISORY COUNCIL
“Wikiup Commons” is no longer a standing agenda item at the Mark West Citizens Advisory Council meetings – this item has been replaced by “Wikiup Open Space.” The meetings are usually on the 2nd Wednesday of each month at 6:00 P.M. The Mark West Citizens Advisory Council is using video conferencing for their meetings, and may soon be transitioning to hybrid meetings. Agendas for meetings and how to connect are posted here:
Please attend these meetings if you are able. Regarding the Covid-19 County, State & National Declarations of Emergency, The Mark West Citizens Advisor Council Meeting have continued with video/teleconferencing for public access, which we don’t think is adequate for a true “public” airing of comments, required by The Brown Act. Many citizens either aren’t savvy or do not have the technical equipment to access a teleconference, or are simply intimidated by the format. Our group uses many forms of communicating to reach our members: mailings, email, fliers, signs and this website, which is more inclusive.
Take care, follow suggestions from reliable sources, and wash those hands!
Our best wishes for your health and safety,
—The Friends of Wikiup
Mark your calendars for an interesting line up for the next July 14, 2021 MWCAC meeting including an update from Tony Korman about the previous Wikiup Golf Course. A representative from Sonoma County Water Agency will also speak as to future plans relating to the golf course. Be sure to tune in if possible. Information here.
Dear Friends,
Everyone should be proud of the turnout at the Mark West Citizen’s Advisory Council’s March 2020 meeting, where Tony Korman formally unveiled his latest and submitted proposal. Just your presence made a big impression on the Council members who will vote to approve or disapprove the project. Whatever their recommendation turns out to be, it will only be one factor considered by the Board of Supervisors, the Planning Department, the Zoning Board, and so on.
We encourage you to stay alert to the next notice of public hearing for the many Boards that will consider this project. The County has consolidated that information on this project in one place:
WIKIUP COMMONS, THE INN AT NUNES FARM, AND THE WINERY AT SARALEE’S VINEYARD
There is a link on this county web page to “request to be added to the interested parties list for this project”. We encourage you to do so. OR you can email Katrina Braehmer directly at Katrina.Braehmer@sonoma-county.org and request to be added to the list for notifications. Then you will receive notices/updates at the same time we do.

The Jackson Family is pursuing a housing development and rezoning of the former Wikiup Golf Course in the Wikiup neighborhood in order to secure approval for a luxury resort in the middle of an agricultural area, six miles away.
For a current glimpse of public sentiment about this “exchange” please follow the links to the four letters below from organizations opposing the Slusser Road portion of the proposed project.
